A disability claim can take two to three years from application to hearing. Our job is to keep the file complete, meet deadlines, and present medical evidence clearly at each stage.
Initial applications
We complete Form SSA-16, obtain treating-source statements, and make sure SSA has records before DDS makes a decision. See the filing process.
Reconsideration
If DDS denies the claim, we file a Request for Reconsideration within 60 days and submit any new medical evidence.
ALJ hearings
At the hearing we examine vocational experts, present your testimony, and argue why SSA's prior decisions were wrong. Most of our approvals happen here.
Appeals Council
When an ALJ decision is unfavorable, we can ask the Appeals Council to review legal and factual errors.
Federal court
A small number of cases require suit in U.S. District Court. Thomas R. Banks handles these matters for the firm.
